a few words
First and foremost I'm a parent and a husband. I have a wonderful wife and an amazing daughter. If it was up to me, I'd spend all my time playing with them. But who wouldn't want to do whatever they want, whenever they want, right? Unfortunately, this isn't how the world works. Be that it were, I'd be a contented soul.
I've been an artist now for over twenty years and a Web Designer for four years. I work as a code monkey during the day for the City of Nashua and at night, when I'm not too fried, I paint in my studio at home. I'm most happy in front of the easel with a brush in my hand mixing paint. Some day I hope to paint full time. Know any wealthy patrons who are looking for a talented artist to support?
If you'd like some design work done for you or you'd like to inquire about one of my masterpieces please don't hesitate to drop me a line. And thanks for dropping by!
why the name jack tar design?
I chose the name Jack Tar Design because at one point in my life I used to be a jack tar. I worked at Plimoth Plantation on Mayflower II as a rigger. I was part of a group of people whose job it was to maintain the ship's rigging. Every winter we would take down all the running and standing rigging and make it ready for the next year. The masts and blocks were scraped and re-oiled and the hemp rigging was re-coated with tar (to protect it from weather). We made any repairs that were needed; whether it was splicing or something else. And then in the spring we'd put everything back up and make it all ship shape.
So when I started doing web design and had to come up with a name for my design site, Jack Tar Design came to mind. I thought it would make a cool name. And so was born Jack Tar Design dot com. Heave the ship 'round and make way!
